Timiro Mohamed is a 19-year-old spoken word artist and a student at the University of Alberta. Her work is centered around her experience as a Black-Muslim-woman and a second generation Somali-Canadian. She is also actively involved in her community, having worked as the youth coordinator for the Police and Youth Engagement Program and as a member of the Somali Student’s Association at the University of Alberta. Timiro also competed with the Edmonton Slam Poetry team at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in 2016.
