Good Women Announce 2016 New Work Award Recipient

Edmonton’s Good Women Dance Society is once again proud to present the New Work Award at the Expanse Festival. Going into its fourth year of programming, this award is intended to provide funding, mentorship and guidance for the development of new work by a local emerging artist, which will be presented at the 2017 Expanse Festival.

The Good Women Dance Society is invested in the advancement and sustainability of the movement arts in Edmonton and as such takes great pride in contributing to the development of dedicated artists.

2016 New Work Award Recipient: Aimee Rushton

Aimee

Aimee Rushton is an independent dance artist residing in Edmonton. She obtained her dance diploma from Grant MacEwan College and then went on to graduate from the School of Contemporary Dancers in Winnipeg. Upon graduation, Aimee was hired by the Ruth Cansfield Dance Company where she spent two seasons as a company member. Returning to Edmonton in 2015, Aimee was cast in Matthew MacKenzie’s play Bears and will be working with MacKenzie again for his upcoming play “The Other.”
