2017 Good Women New Work Award Recipient: Katherine Semchuk

Meet this year’s Good Women New Work Award recipient, Katherine Semchuk! Catch Katherine’s work as part of The Chinook Series 2018.

Katherine Semchuk is a dancer, choreographer and instructor currently based in Edmonton. After delving into contemporary dance and composition at Victoria School of the Arts, she completed the Professional Training Program at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. There she had the opportunity to learn from extraordinary faculty and choreographers such as Peggy Baker, Sasha Ivanochko, Patricia Miner and James Kudelka. While in Toronto, Semchuk performed with The Chimera Project’s Company B, Nostos Collectives and Echo Dance Company. As she always been interested in developing her own choreographic process she has presented her work in Toronto and Edmonton. Most recently as apart of Nostos Collective’s Chasing the Light, Feats Festival of Dance and Toy Guns Dance Theatre’s Dancing in the Park.

Semchuk teaches at a few studios around the city and has been a guest teacher, mentor and choreographer at Victoria School of the Arts and Scona High School.
